Sorcha Richardson: Dublin's Rising Star

From Brooklyn to Dalkey: Sorcha Richardson's Musical Journey

Growing Up in Dalkey and Embracing Music

Sorcha Richardson's passion for music began at a tender age in her hometown of Dalkey. At just 10 years old, she formed her first band with schoolfriends. However, it wasn't until she ventured to New York City to study creative writing that she truly discovered her voice.

Returning to Dublin and Finding Her Footing

After returning to Dublin in late 2017, Richardson quickly immersed herself in the music scene. She performed at the renowned Longitude Festival in 2018 and was named one of RTÉ 2FM's Rising Artists. Collaborating with acclaimed Irish band All Tvvins further solidified her presence in the industry.

Discovering Her Roots and Writing from the Heart

Despite finding her voice in New York, Richardson credits her Dublin upbringing with grounding her music. She draws inspiration from her hometown, crafting deeply personal and emotionally resonant songs. Her sophomore album, written from her grandparents' house by the sea, showcases her songwriting prowess.

"Smiling Like an Idiot": A Perfect Soundtrack for the Twenty-Something Experience

Richardson's sophomore album, "Smiling Like an Idiot," is a musical testament to the complexities of life in one's twenties. With its stunning harmonies and introspective lyrics, the album captures the joys, heartbreaks, and aspirations of this transformative period.
